Today we are going to do English-speaking practice through story. Today Subject is Nice weekend.


Part 2: Vocabulary:

Swim   verb /swim/         -->     泳ぐ  /         수영하다    /         Bơi

to move through water using arms and legs.

Example:

Shara went swimming at the pool near her house.

She swam to the ladder in the pool. 

Wave verb   /weiv/ -->     手を振る    /         손을 흔들며         /         Vẫy chào

to move backwards and forwards or flutter.

Example:

They waved at her. 

Shara waved back.

Hold verb   /həuld/         -->     所有  /         잡고 있다   /         Cầm, nắm  

to have in one’s hand(s) or between one’s hands.

Example:

She held her nose. 

He was holding a knife.

Ladder       noun  /ˈlӕdə/         -->     はしご       /         사다리        /         cái thang    

Example:

She swam to the ladder in the pool.  

He climbed up the ladder.

Climb         verb   /klaim/        -->     登る  /         오르다        /         Leo, trèo    

to go up or towards the top.

Example:

She climbed out of the pool.  

He climbed up the ladder.

Stand    verb          /stӕnd/        -->     立つ  /         서다  /         Đứng

to be in an upright position.

Example:

She stood at the edge of the pool.       

His leg was so painful that he could hardly stand.

Edge noun  /edʒ/  -->     , /         가장자리    /         bờ; cạnh

the part farthest from the middle of something.

Example:

She stood at the edge of the pool.  

We went down to the river and sat by the water’s edge.  

Part 3: Summary of the article:

The story is a short story about Shara. She went swimming with her mother at a nearby pool. Shara's friends waved at her, and she jumped into the water, held her nose, and then climbed out to jump again. The water felt good on a hot day, and Shara's mother watched her from a chair, hoping she has fun.
